Exceeds 10 minutes water spray requirements of IEC 60529
Verification Method
Plugs and connectors were submitted to tests for protection against solid foreign objects and tests for protection against water according to IEC 60529. A. Measure and record all dimensional properties for the models to ensure compliance with manufacturer’s supplied drawings and authorization in ELBZ report (UL file E257089). B. IEC 60529, Clause 13 Tests for protection against solid foreign objects indicated by the first characteristic numeral. Level 4, effective against >1 mm. Most wires, slender screws, large ants etc. C. IEC 60529, Clause 14 Tests for protection against water indicated by the second characteristic numeral. Level 4, effective against Splashing water. Water splashing against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effect, utilizing either: a) an oscillating fixture or b) A spray nozzle with no shield. Test a) is conducted for 10 minutes. b) is conducted (without shield) for 5 minutes minimum. Water spray for 12 minutes, exceeding above requirements. D. Dielectric Voltage Withstand Test in accordance with UL 817, Clause 11.4.
