Marketing Claim Verified by UL Solutions

Pet Pro Cycle sanitizes by removing 99.999% of bacteria found in pet bowls. See UL Verify for specific organisms.

Verification Method

The following organisms were used during the assessment of this verification: Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538) Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 15442) Klebsiella pneumoniae (ATCC 4352) Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922) Neisseria gonorrhoeae (ATCC 19424) Salmonella enterica (ATCC 14028) Test microorganisms were applied to metal and plastic pet bowls. The pet bowls were placed in the dishwasher along with household dinner plates per the guidelines outlined in Appendix Z of ANSI/AHAM DW-1, Household Electric Dishwashers. The dish load was based on the manufacturer’s rated capacity. The entire load was placed into a test dishwasher and run through the claimed cycle, according to manufacturer’s instructions. Samples before and after washing were extracted and analyzed for microbial counts and the reduction of test organisms calculated. After each test run, negative control samples (no test microorganisms applied to the fabric samples) were used to monitor any carryover of organisms from one cycle to the next. Triplicate test runs were completed. Detergents, chemical sanitizers or rinse agents were not used during this assessment. This verification is intended to test the functionality of the dishwasher and its ability to reduce bacteria. For each test run, the following calculations were made: Percent Reduction = (ACC – ATC)/ACC x 100 Log Reduction = log ACC – log ATC or alternatively log (ACC/ATC) Where: ACC = average Positive Control Sample organism count before cycle (cfu/mL) ATC = average Test Sample organism count after cycle (cfu/mL)

What is UL Verification?

UL Verification is an objective, science-based assessment that confirms the accuracy of marketing claims. Our independent assessment process scrutinizes the validity of specific advertising or promotional statements, giving you a way to separate verified fact from fiction.
