Verification Method
Verification of factory lab test process or processes including an audit of equipment calibration, testing personnel training records and procedural documents to confirm suitability for conducting moving applications cable (“robotic cable”) testing and confirm resultant data is used to support client’s “life time calculator”.
About the Company
igus® was founded inside Günter Blase’s garage in Cologne, Germany in 1964. He used his own injection molding machine to design a plastic valve cone as an alternative to metal. “Give me your most difficult part and I will find a solution,” Blase says. Today, igus® has expanded its product lines to include tribologically-optimized plastic plain bearings, linear bearings and slides, cables carriers, and continuous-flex cables. The company has locations in 35 countries (including the US), partners in another 80 countries, and employs 4,150 people worldwide. Our motto, “Plastics for longer life,” is rooted in Blase’s original goal to provide our customers with the right product at the lowest price as quickly as possible. We continuously make technical improvements to reduce maintenance and save our customers money. igus® developed its first chainflex® continuous-flex cable in 1989, making us the first in the wire and cable industry to develop a cable specifically for use inside cable carriers. The cables meet all RoHS II and REACH requirements as well as every standard in electromagnetic compatibility. They are certified according to UL, DNVGL, EAC, CTP and CE and are also approved and certified for use in systems according to EtherCAT, CC-Link, CC-Link IE Field, Profibus, Profinet and Interbus. More than 1,350 cable types, including bus, data, fiber optic, control and robotic cables, are available from stock and are guaranteed to last 36 months or 10 million cycles. igus® engineers continuously test each cable inside our 41,000-square-foot lab at our headquarters in Cologne, Germany – which is one of the largest test labs in the wire and cable industry – to provide customers with the highest level of predictable reliability. Over 2 billion test cycles, 1,561 production monitoring tests, and up to 1.4 million electrical measurements are carried out each year. igus® stores all of this data inside an online tool where customers can calculate the expected service life of their selected cables free of charge and without registering on our website.
