Marketing Claim Verified by UL Solutions

Water contact angle on the surface coating remains ≥ 100° per JIS R3257 after 10,000 friction cycles

Verification Method

The product is assessed as follows: Initial contact angle measurement - Intravenous drip method based on JIS R3257 - Place the specimen horizontally on the test bench. - Use a syringe to place one (1) drop of water (~2-5 µl) in five (5) different locations on the surface of the specimen. - Using a contact angle meter, measure and record the five (5) contact angles of the water droplets and average the readings. - The average contact angle must be equal to or greater than 100° to proceed. Surface rub (friction) step - Use steel wool #0000 with a 1 kg load to rub the surface of the mobile phone screen protector from “top to bottom to top” of the protector to complete one cycle. - Repeat for a total of 10,000 cycles. Final contact angle measurement - Intravenous drip method based on JIS R3257 - Place the specimen horizontally on the test bench. - Use a syringe to place one (1) drop of water (~2-5 µl) in five (5) different locations on the surface of the specimen. - Using a contact angle meter, measure and record the five (5) contact angles of the water droplets and average the readings. - The average contact angle must be equal to or greater than 100° to support the claim.
