Process Information

Hybrid/Composite cable performance characteristics have been evaluated as outlined below to determine that the product satisfies the requirements of UTG40.

For distances listed:
POWER source = 95W @ 56VDC (NEC 726 Class 2 Power Supply – Limited Power Source)
POWER edge = 30W / 60W / 75W @ 46VDC

Note:  Actual power delivered by cable in a specific installation is dependent on power supply voltage / wattage, required target voltage at edge, and actual cable temperature.

For copper wire
- Testing conditions: 40° C, 50%RH
- Max input power not to exceed 100 Watts (per maximum Class 2 limits).
- For each gauge size, confirm output power at the specified lengths below.

For 16 AWG wire
- At least 30 Watt power delivery at 460 meters
- At least 60 Watt power delivery at 250 meters
- At least 75 Watt power delivery at 185 meters

For 18 AWG wire
- At least 30 Watt power delivery at 300 meters
- At least 60 Watt power delivery at 150 meters
- At least 75 Watt power delivery at 120 meters

For optical fiber
- Testing conditions: 23° C nominal, 50%RH nominal.
- Measure Bit Error Rate (BER) for 5 mins, with and without Forward Error Correction (FEC).
- Calculate the confidence level with and without FEC.

For 16 AWG Hybrid/Composite cables
- Bit Error Rate (BER) of 1x10-12 at 400 Gbps with Forward Error Correction (FEC) over 460 meters of single-mode fiber.
- Bit Error Rate (BER) of 1x10-12 at 400 Gbps without Forward Error Correction (FEC) over 460 meters of single-mode fiber.

For 18 AWG Hybrid/Composite cables
- Bit Error Rate (BER) of 1x10-12 at 400 Gbps with Forward Error Correction (FEC) over 300 meters of single-mode fiber.
- Bit Error Rate (BER) of 1x10-12 at 400 Gbps without Forward Error Correction (FEC) over 300 meters of single-mode fiber.
