Verification Method

A process-based audit was conducted to evaluate the accuracy and consistency of the customer’s method for generating its published security performance metric. The assessment examined the integrated components, including: • Roles, responsibilities, and training of personnel involved in monitoring activities, incident logging, data screening, and management review. Competency records and workflow responsibilities were evaluated to confirm consistent application of the documented process. • Written procedures governing how security related events are recorded, how non qualifying events are excluded, how missed event reviews are conducted, and how monthly performance metrics are calculated. Process controls, review steps, and data handling rules were examined to ensure they align with the documented methodology. • Functionality and configuration of the software tools and supporting systems used to record events, store data, and produce the counts used in the performance metric. System outputs, data retention behavior and audit trail capabilities were reviewed for accuracy and reliability. This verification confirms that the documented process and supporting systems used to produce the security performance metric operate as described at the time of assessment.
