Sensor Wash Performance Characteristics Verified
Performance characteristics were assessed as follows: Washing Efficiency (“Brightest Whites”) - Select washing cycle test according to program as the following: EWF1141AEWA : Cotton , Cold , 1200 rpm, with smart sensor on. EWF1141AEWA : Cotton , Cold , 1200 rpm, with smart sensor off. - Load 5 kg of IEC based load and soil clothes with standard mud to each front load washing machine model as above. - Add liquid detergent brand Breeze Excel Gold 35 ml per cycle. - Perform the test 3 cycles with smart sensor on, and 3 cycle with smart sensor off. - Replace new soil clothes for each cycle. - Measure % reflectance of soil clothes after completed each cycle. - Calculate % washing performance rate between smart sensor on and off. Results: Sensor Wash feature improved washing efficiency by 4.2%. Detergent Removal (“Blackest Blacks”) - Washing machine loaded with samples of new, black cotton textile composed of 100% black cotton interlock T-shirt fabric. - The same washing program, water level and detergent batch for all tests was used. At two critical conditions were tested: 1) washing machine with the highest water level set and 2) an intermediate condition with half capacity and medium water level. - After the cycle finished digital pictures were taken of the damp samples. - A total of 2 fast cycles were performed with double rinse in order to remove detergent residues from the samples. - Samples were tumble dried and digital photos were obtained again. - Pixels of the before and after photo files were compared to identify “significant areas” of detergent (white and/or gray pixels). - Percentage of significant pixels was compared to the total pixel area. Results: Sensor Wash feature improved detergent removal by83%. Color Maintenance (“Color Care”) - Before starting the test, measure the reflectance of wfk test strip “AISE Dye-Set Monitor, 14 selection - Load wfk test strip to the test machine - Load IEC based load according to test capacity of the test machine - Fill washing machine with consumer detergent brand Breeze Excel Gold 19g/kg - Perform 52 wash cycles adding detergent at the beginning of each cycle - Measure the reflectance after wash at 10,20,30,40, and 52 cycle - Calculate E according to ISO 105-A05 “” Results: Sensor Wash feature improved color maintenance by 40%. Fabric Softener Distribution (“Perfect Rinse”) - The test load was conditioned for 2 washing cycles with powder detergent at high temperature (60°C) and 2 following washing cycles without detergent - At the end of the washing cycle the machine was unload and the fabric ws dipped in a BPB solution. - The fabric was then rinsed and squeezed to remove excess water. - The fabric was then tumble dried. - Determination of the distribution of Fabric Softener was determined through image processing tools developed to calculate the % of covered area. Results: Sensor Wash feature improved fabric softener distribution by 9.9%.
