Verification Method

The test chamber as described in AHAM AC-1 is utilized for testing. A TSI Model 3330 Optical Particle Sizer is utilized for monitoring particle counts and density. All assessments utilize 100 g of simulated household dust, as detailed in IEC 62885-2, Cl. 7.2.2.3 (DMT Test Dust Type 8). Test Run – Samsung Clean Station a. The test chamber environmental controls are turned off and the dampers are closed. b. The Optical Particle Sizer is started to take measurements. c. After 30 seconds, the canister with the collected dust is placed into the top opening of the Clean Station and then is allowed to operate for a dust removal cycle. d. Following the dust removal cycle, the canister is removed from the Clean Station and the bottom lid is closed. e. The Optical Particle Sizer is allowed to take measurements for a total of 15 minutes. Test Run – Samsung Canister Vacuum Cleaner, Model VC7000 a. The test chamber environmental controls are turned off and the dampers are closed. b. The Optical Particle Sizer is started to take measurements. c. After 30 seconds, the dust canister from the vacuum or the vacuum with integral dust canister with the collected dust is held at the center of the waste bin. The bottom of the canister is held along the horizontal plane of the waste bin opening. d. The dust from the canister is emptied into the waste bin and the canister opening is closed. e. The Optical Particle Sizer is allowed to take measurements for a total of 15 minutes. Comparison of Samsung Clean Station and Canister Vacuum Cleaner The maximum 30 second average particle density measurement for the Samsung Clean Station was 2.8 μg/m³. The maximum 30 second average particle density measurement for the Samsung Canister Vacuum Model VC7000 was 1151.9 μg/m³.
