Marketing Claim Verified by UL Solutions

Cell surface temperature difference ≤ 2.5° C at 0.25P charge/discharge rate at 25 ± 5° C ambient

Verification Method

25 thermocouples are attached to the battery cells in each of 5 packs (125 thermocouples total). P-rate is a ratio of the charging or discharging power in Watts and the nominal energy capacity of a battery in Watt-hours. After 12 hours of rest at ambient temperature, a fully discharged container shall be charged at a rate specified by the manufacturer until fully charged (in ‘n’ seconds). During charging, thermocouple temperature data (‘TC’) is collected every 1 second. After 12 hours of rest at ambient temperature, the fully charged container shall be discharged at a rate specified by the manufacturer until fully discharged (in ‘n’ seconds). During discharging, thermocouple temperature data (‘TC’) is collected every 1 second. TD1 = Max (TC1,…,TC125) – Min ((TC1,…,TC125); maximum temperature difference of all thermocouples in 1st second; TDn = Max (TC1,…,TC125) – Min ((TC1,…,TC125); maximum temperature difference of all thermocouples in n second; The maximum temperature difference = Max (TD1 ,…, TDn) The maximum temperature difference shall be reported in the claim.

What is UL Verification?

UL Verification is an objective, science-based assessment that confirms the accuracy of marketing claims. Our independent assessment process scrutinizes the validity of specific advertising or promotional statements, giving you a way to separate verified fact from fiction.
